Sandhaven Performance Horses
Seville TB
(x Key to the Mint) 15.3 hh
Although she was bred to race Seville was never registered due to a near fatal accident as a foal, which convinced her owners that she would never run. Time proved them wrong but it was too late to register the filly, so Seville was sold into the polo world and then into polocrosse. As a key part of the Orphan Ranch string she was a major factor in their years of dominance in polocrosse. In fact, it could be argued that Seville was the top polocrosse mare of her time. She had unbeatable speed and a huge jump. She knew what the field lines meant and would not cross them, even at speed in the end zone. Her drive, coupled with the hand/eye co-ordination and daring of her owner/rider, Richard Stump, made a formidable combination. Seville was retired, sound, as a 14 year old.
She has had 4 off-spring
• Sparrow, her first filly- by a Zan Parr Bar son, was sold back to Richard and has had a career ranging from trick horse to roping mare. She will returned to Sandhaven to enter the brood mare band in the spring of 2012, and has had one foal, the gelding Firecracker, born 2013.
• Robbie, her second- also from the Zan Parr Bar son, is deceased.
• Valencia was sold and is in Colorado.
• Castille, her last filly, is competing in Working Equitation and will also be started in Penning and Sorting in the spring of 2016.
